Industrial Filters for Odor and Fume Control

OdorsFumesIn an industrial setting, providing a clean, comfortable air supply for employees is essential. This includes controlling offensive odors and airborne contaminants, such as chemical vapors, smoke, and dust. Utilizing a fume extraction system with industrial air filters for odor control can not only eliminate unpleasant smells but also prevent them from spreading and contaminating the indoor environment.

Industrial filters for odor and fume control help to ensure worker safety and compliance with indoor air quality standards. They can also significantly improve working conditions by limiting exposure to hazardous particles and gases that can lead to respiratory disorders, asthma, and other health concerns.

At Clean Liquid Systems, we offer a comprehensive selection of top-quality air filters for industrial and commercial use.

Types of Filters

Clean Liquid Systems’ industrial odor-eliminating air filters are designed to tackle a range of odors and fumes. Available types include the following:

  • Activated carbon
  • Chemisorbant media
  • High-efficiency gas adsorber (HEGA)
  • Impregnated carbons

Activated Carbon Filters

This type of industrial filter is best suited for environments where volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or strong odors are present. The activated carbon can effectively confine odor-causing molecules, making the workplace safer, cleaner, and more comfortable for personnel.

Activated carbon filters are designed to add a minimal pressure drop to existing operating systems, providing the necessary protection from VOCs and foul odors that can cause nausea, headaches, and other medical concerns.

Our CARB V and CARB VM APF (Air Pollution Fix)

Our CARB V and VM are available as carbon only or as two-stage activated carbon and offer a high Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV), sandwiched media design minimizes the potential risk of carbon fines. This rating contributes to a higher Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDS) building rating as well as the prevention of process contamination. These features make our filters suitable for HVAC systems and industrial and commercial manufacturing facilities across major industries.

For fast and very effective odor adsorption, pleated carbon APF filters can hold up to 500 grams of carbon per square meter. The pleated design offers large capacity using a fine granular media. Filters are also available with impregnated media for fumes that are not readily adsorbed by carbon.

High Efficiency Gas Absorbers (True HEGA) Filters

HEGA filters are ideal for facilities that frequently handle dangerous particles, gaseous toxins, or chemicals. Originally, these durable filters were designed to protect individuals in shelters from biological warfare or nuclear fallout. Today, they provide a robust alternative for manufacturers seeking to improve their indoor air quality.

HEGA filters from Clean Liquid Systems are available in several sizes and depths, with the most common type being 24″ x 24″ x 11.5″. Impregnated TEDA carbons and activated carbons can hold between 58 pounds and 105 pounds of activated carbon per filter.

Key Features of Our Industrial Odor and Fume Filters

Activated Carbon Filters

Clean Liquid Systems has extensive experience removing odors and fumes from indoor air, helping our customers create a pleasant workplace environment by improving the health and mood of their employees.

The reliable activated carbon filter products we offer to create an odor-free environment include:

  • Disposable pleated carbon filters
  • Disposable bonded carbon blocks in cylindrical, V-cell, or panel configurations
  • Disposable V-cells with Style VH honeycomb design
  • Pleated activated carbon V-cells (with MERV 13 or 15 efficiency ratings)

We also offer refillable activated carbon V-cells and refillable metal trays.

HEGA Filters

Some major companies are producing HEGA filters designed strictly for odor adsorption. However, these would not pass the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) Standard for contamination control. In turn, they are not reliable for applications requiring consistent performance in line with this standard.

New generation HEGA filters can only contain up to 15.48 pounds of carbon, holding up to 600 grams of carbon per square meter. Current research indicates that a 24″ x 24″ x 12″ filter will have a maximum of 11.71 square meters or 126 sq. ft. of media. A true 24″ x 24″ x 11.5″ HEGA filter contains a minimum of 58 pounds of material, which is a considerably higher capacity than these newer style filters.

Benefits of Industrial Odor and Fume Filters

Compared to other filtering options, an industrial odor and fume filter from Clean Liquid Systems offers wide-ranging benefits:

  • Eliminates odors. Industrial air filters effectively eliminate hazardous odors and fumes.
  • Improves efficiency. Keeps the workspace clean, contributing to a more efficient and productive work environment.
  • Optimizes operating conditions. Monitoring pH levels ensures safe and effective operating conditions within the facility.
  • Prevents corrosion. Protects industrial equipment from damage caused by corrosive fumes.
  • Reduces the risk of injuries. Lower fume exposure can significantly improve air quality, reducing the likelihood of workplace accidents.
  • Ensures compliance. Complies with emission standards to lower the likelihood of penalties or fines.

Applications

Our filters offer dependable performance in a range of industrial and commercial applications, including:

  • Agriculture and livestock operations. Biofilters and anaerobic digesters help mitigate the odors associated with waste and manure.
  • Chemical manufacturing. Odor control systems oxidize or “scrub” the unpleasant odors associated with various chemicals, ensuring compliance with indoor air quality standards.
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing. Intermediates and solvents used in manufacturing pharmaceuticals can generate strong odors. Industrial air filters control these odors, ensuring compliance with health regulations while promoting a safe working environment.
  • Pulp and paper manufacturing. Odor control technologies can drastically neutralize the strong odors associated with sulfur compounds generated during the pulping process. Stopping these particles from releasing into the atmosphere can protect the environment and nearby residents.
  • Industrial HVAC systems. Air filters integrated into HVAC systems can effectively manage indoor air quality, particularly where odors, mold, or cooking smells are prevalent.
  • Food and beverage processing. Odor control is crucial for mitigating unpleasant smells from cooking, waste disposal, and fermentation. Air filtration systems ensure odors do not negatively impact employee comfort or product quality.
  • Landfills and solid waste management. Activated carbon systems and biofilters capture and treat the foul odors associated with decomposing organic waste, treating the smells before they can be dispersed into the atmosphere.
  • Wastewater treatment. Manages the release of VOCs, such as hydrogen sulfide, during the treatment process, which is critical for reducing nuisance odors in the surrounding community and maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.
